Brief History

The Arundel PTA was established on May 3, 1948, one year before the opening of Arundel School. The first classes were held on April 18, 1949. The 50th anniversary year celebration was held April 18, 1999. In May of 1998, Arundel was recognized as a California Distinguished School by the California Department of Education. In December, 2000, Arundel became a charter school

Restructured Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) Program


The state of California, as a part of its budget adoption process for 2008-2009, suspended all GATE program mandates for 5 years.  The San Carlos School District has chosen not to eliminate its GATE program. Rather, it has both reduced the program commensurate with state budget reductions, and at the same time brought it into compliance with changes in program requirements that went into effect some years ago.
